About Balmoral Queenslander

Balmoral Queenslander boasts easy access to the Brisbane CBD, airport the Gabba, and very close to the working and training areas of Murarrie and Cannon Hill.

Balmoral Queenslander offers the choice of two large Queen double rooms, both have stunning private bathrooms, each have outdoor seating on decks and patio which overlook a lush subtropical garden.

The Queenslander House style is a unique classic piece of Australian architectural design. The Queenslander is often described as the closest Australia ever came to an indigenous style. The classic Queenslander is typically a single detached house made of timber and iron. You only find this style of house in inner Brisbane and regional Queensland.

Brian & Marie bought the house in 2009, raised 1.2m and moved sideways 1.2m enlarged, preserved, extended and modernised over the last 5 years. Both are passionate gardeners everything was created from 2010, with a unique mix of native, sub tropical layered gardens, creating the natural green screening and beautiful views from all rooms. Marie’s talent for decoration and style, combining the new with the character of the Queenslander beauty results in a stunning look.

Her large bold paintings and furnishing style have guests reaching for their cameras.

Located within the prestige suburb of Balmoral, between Hawthorne & Bulimba, the city limits to Brisbane is a mere 4 km and is just 10 mins to the Airport.  Balmoral Queenslander is a 7 min walk to famous vibrant, leafy urban village Oxford St Bulimba dining, shopping and Cinema precinct with 5 ice cream vendors (yum!). 7 min in another direction you have Hawthorne Central precinct with Deluxe cinema, Turkish, Mexican, Italian, Thai, Japanese and pizza restaurants & bars, all surrounding the wonderful Hawthorne Garage with gourmet grocery & deli.

On the weekends it’s just one ferry stop from Apollo Rd to the fantastic colourful Eat Street food markets.

Instead of being in concrete motel in the centre of buildings you are surrounded by tree lined streets with a great mix of the unique houses and parks for you morning walks with the locals out jogging, walking their dogs.

…. and then there is the River…. Brisbane is known as the River City and the mighty Brisbane River circles around the three suburbs and we a walk to the river cat ferry. Bulimba, the marginally closest also has its own cross river service.

The tourist guides will speak of the City Hopper service, but Brian will explain how to “do” the river like a local!

All guests love the Rivercat ride into the Southbank cultural precinct and Botanical Gardens. The Bike track that hugs the river using the public Bike system or the Lime Scooters, the great path passes through New Farm Park, Powerhouse markets and theatres, the historical Newstead House just across the river is a great visit and picnic spot or stroll into one of the many cafes or the iconic Breakfast Creek Hotel.

Along this path soon leads you to the ”must do” River walk, a 1 km water highway for pedestrians and cyclists jutting out on a scenic river tract from New Farm to the new Howards Smith Wharf precinct under the Storey Bridge and on to the CBD gardens, or up the sheer cliffs via scenic escalator to a walk across the historic Storey Bridge.

Balmoral Queenslander is perfect for couples for weekend escapes (make it a long week-end!) or family reunions, Grandparents visiting family locally while having their own bit of luxury and beauty. Great for small groups and for people arriving or departing via Airport, don’t stay next to the airport when a short 10 min Uber can bring you comfort and a luxurious shower!

If you’re working or training this is where you can get the “feel” of a holiday away from home, instead of being stuck in a concrete hotel surrounded by boring city buildings, or squashed into el-cheapo when staying at the Balmoral Queenslander everywhere you look you have beauty, comfort and an enhanced experience to soften your day to day work. and studies.

If you come from overseas or even elsewhere in Australia staying at Balmoral Queenslander will provide an experience of the fantastic lifestyle of inner Brisbane in romantic privacy, great weather, the urban feel here is unique  …. but shuss … only tell your friends !!!
